Through compassionate, evidence-based care, I support adults across North Carolina in navigating life transitions, parenting, recovery, and mental health challenges with resilience, connection, and hope.
Open Canopy Health
Hi, I'm Caitlin—therapist and founder of Open Canopy Health.
I currently practice in two clinical roles—as lead therapist at Project CARA, a community program specializing in perinatal substance use disorders and maternal mental health in the Asheville area; and as the founder of Open Canopy Health, a small private practice serving the mental health needs of adults across North Carolina.
I’m passionate about supporting individuals through life transitions, with particular interests in maternal and parental mental health, and person-centered substance use treatment that affirms the dignity and humanity of my clients. In 2026, I was appointed by Governor Josh Stein to the North Carolina Addiction Specialist Professionals Practice Board (NCASPPB), which is charged with overseeing professional standards and clinical licensure in the state.
I began my career as a formally-trained sculptor and visual arts educator. It was my experience teaching art to adults and school-aged children that first spurred my interest in social work and mental health. These experiences, along with becoming a mother and caring for my own children, continue to shape my understanding of the joys, challenges, and complexities of parenting, identity, and emotional well-being.
I believe healing happens in the context of meaningful relationships. In therapy I strive to create a space where you feel welcomed, understood, and respected, and where our work together is guided by curiosity, compassion, and authenticity.
While connection is at the heart of my approach, I enjoy helping clients to develop practical skills and strategies that can be carried into their daily lives. Drawing from a range of evidence-based practices, I work collaboratively with my clients to cultivate resilience and healthy coping skills to navigate life's inevitable challenges.
